Poetry by Hadassah Treu

Eternity

Do you want to see

A piece of eternity?

Take a closer  look

Into this tiny place,

Eternity confined

In a single heart

In a breathing shape.

Nothing I can add,

Nothing I can take.

Eternity remains.

A pregnant promise,

A burning longing,

My greatest gain.

Hope for Redemption

We want (again)

All good that has been lost.

Past

Without sorrows,

Without pain.

But, is this redemption?

Even God’s mercies

arrive daily. New.

Something from the past

may come again.

But now replaced,

Morphing into different shapes.

Another person,

Other tender arms

that embrace you.

Another sweet voice

Will comfort.

Your life will birth

other living things.

We must tread on

Walk the way

To a new heaven

A new earth,

Former things

Forever gone.

Redemption

O, dear friend

Is not preservation.

Redemption is always clothed

In transformation.
