Author and illustrator duo, Kiera and Kezia, have their first children’s board book coming out! This lovely board book features hand-painted illustrations from children lending helping hands to what obedience may look like. Every child needs to know the importance of good character traits and this book, with its whimsical and beautiful nature, does just that. Kiera and Kezia Knox are two young ladies with massive talent ready to help the next generation know God’s big little truths for their lives. As a writer and artist team living in Canada with their family, they desire to bring God glory through their work.

The Girl Whose Frown Shook the Ground is a short chapter book sprinkled with poetry, written with all ages in mind but focused on ages 5-11, that brings us back to God-inspired fairytale beauty, goodness, and truth. It reveals that each of us is a sinner in need of saving and that this world still carries the beauty of our Creator in it. True to fairy tale form, the characters are nameless, so readers may feel connected to any character as the Lord convicts their hearts. In short, this story will bring our children (and their adults) closer to Jesus. It will be a long-lasting book, good for read-alouds for pre-readers, independent reading for grade school readers, and classic reading for teens through adults.
Melody Trowell earned a BA in English with teaching certification (6-12) from Abilene Christian University (‘04) and MA in Linguistics from University of North Texas (‘07). She has taught middle school, high school, and college English at both public and private institutions since 2004, and when staying home with her children from 2012-2016 she started a photography and children’s goods small business. Currently, she teaches writing full-time at Dallas Christian College, where she also serves as a member of the college’s arts and sciences committee and founder/editor-in-chief of the college’s literary journal. She enjoys Bible studies with her sisters in Christ, tending her cottage garden, diy-ing home projects, and loving on her husband and three children. She has been writing stories and poetry since childhood and believes language is one of God’s most beautiful gifts.
